Hiking
A few photos from hikes in and near
Rocky Mountain National Park, summer of 2003. We hiked a total of 35 miles in 3
days. All of it was above 8,000 feet. Total elevation gain: approximately 6,000
feet.
Mary poses after reaching the summit of Deer Mountain. 10,013 ft. In the background is Long's Peak, 14,255 ft. We hope to return and climb it.

Above the timber line on the Ute Trail. Elevation 11,500 feet. This trail was first used by the Utes as they journeyed between their summer and winter hunting grounds. It was later used by trappers and prospectors.

A scenic stop at Ouzel Falls during a 17-mile hike to Thunder Lake. From where I stood I could reach back and stick my hand in the cool water.
